Like any other smart bulb, Sylvania bulbs can experience technical issues that cause them to stop working, which can annoy users and lead them to search for a solution.

I have found that many people are looking for a solution when their Sylvania bulbs are not responding.

I have a lot of expertise with this kind of problem and it happens with all types of connected bulbs regardless of brand.

So stick with me because in the next chapters, I’ll show you everything you need to do to fix this problem and get your light bulb working again.

6 Tips To Troubleshoot Sylvania Light Bulb Not Responding.

There are many reasons why a Sylvania light can stop responding to your commands, and one of the biggest is connectivity issues.

In the following sections, we’ll look at why this bulb won’t connect or respond to your commands and show you how to fix it.

Advice 1: Turn ON The Wall Switch.

It’s impossible for your bulb to receive power and respond to your commands when it’s connected to a traditional wall switch and that switch is off.

So the first thing to do when you notice that the lamp isn’t responding is to go and check if your wall switch is on, if not make sure to turn it on.

Also try to get your kids and husband to turn on the lights from the mobile app, not from the switch, to avoid this kind of issue in the future.

You can also buy a switch guard to completely hide it, or upgrade to a smart one like “Lutron Smart Switch”, which will solve this problem completely.

Advice 2: Restart Your Router.

My second tip for you is to restart your router, I always suggest this idea and you can find it in most of my articles because it is so effective.

Restarting your router can improve its performance and fix issues that prevent the Sylvania bulb from getting a stable internet connection.

To restart your router, you must unplug it from its power source, wait a few seconds (60 seconds is ideal), then plug your router back in.

Advice 3: Connect The Sylvania Bulb To 2.4 GHz.

If the previous solutions didn’t change the state of your bulb and it’s still not responding to your commands, then move on to this solution.

This solution consists of making sure that your lamp is connected to the right frequency channel which is 2.4 GHz.

The Sylvania bulb only works on the 2.4 GHz band, so if you have a dual-band router, be sure to disable the 5 GHz channel if you’re connecting the lamp for the first time.

Important: I suggest not putting too many devices that operate on the 2.4GHz band next to your Sylvania lights to avoid frequency interference.

Advice 4: Update Your Sylvania Firmware.

Updating your Sylvania bulb firmware should also be on your list. The firmware plays a major role in the operation of your lamp, so it should be updated whenever a new version is released.

Outdated firmware can decrease the performance of your lamp and cause various problems including responsiveness issues.

The bulb can be updated directly from its app in the “Updates Available” section.

Advice 5: Increase the range of your Wifi signal.

Weak Wifi signals can lead to connectivity issues which may be the number one reason why your Sylvania bulb isn’t responding to your commands.

This issue often occurs in large homes where there are lots of walls blocking the Wifi signal from reaching all of your devices.

I’m one of those people who suffer from this.

There are many solutions to this problem including moving the router to a better spot where it can broadcast its signals to all home devices, or you can use a Wifi range extender.

You can also set up a mesh network if your house is large and contains more than one floor.

Advice 6: Reset Your Bulb.

The last solution in our article is to completely reset your Sylvania bulb, this will erase all data from the device and return it to its factory settings.

This process can help fix all existing bugs and errors that are causing issues to your lamp but put in mind that this step will delete all your settings inside the device.

Here are the steps to follow in order to reset your Sylvania bulb:

  1. Turn the bulb on and off 5 times in succession.
  2. The lamp will flash blue, red and green.
  3. Then it will show white color, which means your bulb has been reset.

After that go to the app and reinstall the bulb again and see if it’s back to work.

Final Words.

Hope the tips mentioned above will help you get your Sylvania Smart Bulb back to work, otherwise, you can contact their customer support for further assistance.
