It provides many features like 1080p video quality, night vision, it gives you the ability to remote control and sends you notifications when something happens, and much more other features.

This Wyze cam comes with an extra device compared to cameras from other brands which is the Base Station this device has a lot of benefits.

Sometimes you may encounter some connectivity issues with this gadget.

In this article, we’re going to show you how to solve the Wyze Base Station connectivity issues.

Troubleshoot base station connectivity issues.

There are many causes of this problem but before I explore any tips I want you to learn how to do it on your own as this issue can happen again and I’m sure you don’t want to bother people or hire a pro every time, especially since the ways to solve it are easy.

Note: Don’t delete the Wyze Base Station from the app while they show Offline because you’ll not be able to set them up again.

power cycling your Base Station:

To me, this is the first thing you should do before anything, because sometimes power cycling your device may fix the connectivity issue. To do that:

  1. Unplug the base station from the outlet.
  2. Wait at least 30 seconds.
  3. Then plug the device again.

Reset the Base Station:

A factory reset reverts a device to the original settings it had when the device was purchased, so it may solve the connectivity issue. Do the following steps to reset it:

  1. Pick a paper clip and open it.
  2. Put it on the small hole next to the USB port in the Base Station.
  3. Press with this paper clip until the LED light turns orange.
  4. Then remove the paper clip and wait until the LED light starts blinking blue.

Make sure you have the latest version of the Wyze app:

If the Wyze app is not updated it may cause the base station to not connect so check if you have the latest version, follow the next steps to check:

  1. Open the Wyze app on Android or IOS devices.
  2. Tap on Account.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and select About.
  4. Find “vX.X.XX” under the Wyze logo (which means the version number).
  5. Then your version number with the last one on the “Play Store” or “Apple Store”.
  6. Update the app if it is not updated.

Make sure your Base Station has the latest firmware upgrades:

According to Wyze, outdated firmware may cause connectivity problems. so make sure to update firmware:

  1. Open the Wyze app.
  2. Go to account.
  3. Select Firmware Upgrade.
  4. Then Update next to the Base Station.

Check your Ethernet cable:

If you’re using an Ethernet cable to get a connection try to unplug it then plug it again if it doesn’t work change your ethernet cable or switch into a wireless connection by following the next steps:

  1. Unplug the Ethernet cable from the Base Station.
  2. The status light will flash blue, then turn solid once complete.

Select the right Base Station on the app:

The Wyze Base Station supports up to 4 cams and if you’re using more you should add another base station so make sure to connect it to your router and your cam as well.

Check your internet connection:

If you tried all the solutions we cited before and nothing changes you need to check your internet, you can do a web search on your smartphone to make sure that the internet works well.

Power cycle your router:

Power cycling your router cleans out the device’s short-term memory to keep it running more smoothly, it can also improve the internet speed and spread the signal to your Base Station. To do that:

  1. Unplug the Router.
  2. Wait for 60 seconds.
  3. Then plugging it again.

Check if you are on 2.4Ghz frequency:

All Wyze devices work on a 2.4Ghz Wifi network and they can’t be connected to 5Ghz.

So If you’re using a wireless connection to connect to the router make sure to not set up the Base Station with the 5Ghz.

The good news is that all routers have 2.4Ghz while new Wifi routers have both frequencies so check if the signal required by the Wyze Base Station is already enabled.

Use the “RouteThis Helps” app:

The Wyze company is working with a third-party app and they recommend to their customer to use it in case all solutions provided before don’t work.

So in order to use this app to solve the connectivity issue, they required you to follow the next steps:

  1. Download the free RouteThis Helps app.
  2. Turn off the battery saver mode.
  3. When it prompts for a code type “Wyze.”
  4. Place the device that the RouteThis app is installed next to the Base Station you are having issues with.
  5. Confirm that your device is attached to the 2.4GHz signal on your Wifi.
  6. Tap on the start button, it should be labeled “I Moved It.”
  7. The scan will take up to 5 minutes.
  8. Then it will produce a customer key.
  9. Please copy this key.
  10. Submit the customer key and a description of the issue you are experiencing for further assistance.

Check network status and signal strength:

You can check the network status and signal strength between the camera or the router and the Base Station on your Wyze app:

  1. Go to Wyze app on your mobile or tablets.
  2. Select the paired Base Station.

You’ll find a signal bar the same as in the mobile network If your signal is only 1 bar, try moving the base station closer to the router.

After all to make sure that the Base Station is working correctly the LED light must be solid blue.

Final words.

So we explored all the solutions you can apply to solve the connectivity issue with your Base Station, but you can always contact their customer support on the Wyze website in case you don’t understand something they are very friendly.
