It’s a good idea to install a Blink camera in order to keep an eye on your house and catch potential intruders or deter unwanted visitors as this cam offer many features to help you such as 1080P video resolution, motion detection alerts, two-way audio, longer battery life and much more.

When people want to sell this camera to someone else or when a new tenant comes into their property and wants to give them full access, the account or the cam should be deleted from the Blink app in order for the new owner to use it independently and without having access to the information or recordings of the previous user.

So In this article, I am going to teach you how to transfer the Blink camera to a new owner and what you need to know before removing your account.

Blink Cam records short clips when it detects motion and stores them on the cloud for 60 days and when you remove the account, all those records will be deleted automatically, so if you want to keep some of these clips, you need to download and store them on your computer or smartphone.

Also, you need to put in mind that accessing this gadget and seeing the live feed, getting notifications, or changing the settings will be something impossible, and if you want to access the camera again you need to get the account login information of the new user.

In this chapter, I’ll show you how to delete a system, camera, or Sync Module, or remove your account if you want to, and all of these solutions I’ll explore are aimed at giving the new owner the ability to add the device to their account and use it with complete independence.

Delete a System:

  1. Launch the Blink app on an Android or IOS device.
  2. Select the setting icon at the bottom of the screen to view system settings.
  3. Choose the name of the system you wish to delete.
  4. From the System screen tap Delete System (red button at the bottom).
  5. A popup message will appear asking you to confirm, Tap DELETE.
  6. Now the System is no longer present and the new owner can add his cam.

Delete a camera:

  1. From the Blink app tap on the Settings icon to the right of the camera you want to delete.
  2. Tap the Delete Camera button at the bottom of the Camera Settings screen.
  3. Then tap YES to confirm.

Note: You can repeat the same steps to delete the rest of your cameras.

Delete a Sync Module.

  1. Go to the app and tap the setting icon at the bottom of the home screen.
  2. Choose the system that contains the Sync Module you want to remove.
  3. Tap on Sync Module.
  4. Select “Delete Sync Module”, then tap OK.
  5. Scan or enter in the serial number of the Sync Module, located on the bottom of the unit and confirm once again that you would like to delete it from your account.

Delete the account:

  1. Tap on the gear icon on the Blink app home screen.
  2. Then select Manage Account.
  3. Tap on the Delete Account button at the bottom of the screen.
  4. A popup message will appear, tap on DELETE to confirm that you would like to fully delete your account.

Note: When you delete the account the email associated with this account can’t be used again.

You can also give the new owner access directly by changing your email address from the Blink app and you can follow the instructions below in order to do it:

  1. Go to the Blink app on your mobile or tablet.
  2. Tap the Account icon on the footer of the home screen.
  3. Tap the email and then enter your account password in the security popup.
  4. Change Email screen will appear, enter your new email address and tap Change Email.
  5. A verification email will be sent to the new address, so be sure you have access.
  6. The new email address must not be an email address that has already been registered by the app at Blink.
  7. Enter the code received on your email and tap Verify to continue.
  8. The Welcome screen will appear automatically where you can log in with your changed email address.

Reset the camera to give it to a new owner.

Factory reset your camera will delete all the settings and the personal information including your account, so this tip can be used when changing the owner of the Blink cam.

Important: Only the Blink Mini can be reset directly from the camera as it has a reset button, so if you have another model you need to reset the Sync Module.

Here’s how to Reset Blink Mini cam:

  1. Pick a paperclip or a needle.
  2. Press and hold the reset button for more than 5 seconds.
  3. A red and blue lights will flash rapidly shortly before the button is released.
  4. The blue light will then slowly blink, which indicates the camera is ready to be added to a system.

And here’s how to reset the Sync Module:

  1. Find the reset button at the side of this hub next to the USB port.
  2. Pick a needle or a paperclip and press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds.

After 15 a blinking blue light and solid green light appear at the front of the device that means it has been reset, now you need to go and delete and reinstall it again on the Blink app.

To delete the Sync Module follow the steps that I showed earlier in this article, then the new owner will need to reinstall it on his own account, and here’s how:

  1. Log in to the account on the app and click on the + sign in the upper right.
  2. Choose “Blink wireless camera system”.
  3. Scan or enter the module’s serial number again.
  4. Choose your Blink system, then tap “Discover Device”.
  5. Tap on “Join, then Select “Done”.

How the new owner can create an account?

When you delete your account the new owner must open a new one on the Blink app to control his camera, and here’s how:

  1. Download the Blink app from Google Play or Apple Store or Amazon Store.
  2. Launch the Blink app on your mobile or tablet.
  3. Tap Create Account below the Sign-in button.
  4. Choose your country from the menu, then tap Next.
  5. Then confirm your region and tap OK.
  6. Enter your email address, and tap Next (the email address must not be an email address that has already been registered by the app at Blink).
  7. Create a password and tap Create Account (create a strong password to face hackers).
  8. Enter the PIN code that they sent to your email and tap Verify.
  9. Then enter the phone number you wish to use for device verification and click on Next.
  10. Tap the PIN code from the SMS you received and tap Verify.

After that another screen will appear to let you link your Blink account with your Amazon account, You also have the option to select “Skip” which will take you to the home screen, without linking your accounts.

Note: linking your Amazon account to Blink is optional and you can continue to use and benefit from all the features offered by the camera without having to link to Amazon.
